"On January 1, 2024, the new concert organ was inaugurated at Musiikkitalo Helsinki. The French organist Olivier Latry performed the opening concert and presented the impressive instrument to the public for the first time. The organ was built by the Austrian company Rieger Orgelbau and designed by the artist and organ designer Harald Schwarz. With 124 stops on four manuals and pedal, it is the largest organ in Finland and Scandinavia. A special feature is the sculptural façade, where some of the wind tunnels and pipes are visible, giving the organ a unique visual appearance. A key detail of this façade is that all the curved pipes sound. The instrument was completed in the fall of 2023."

„Im Zuge eines international ausgeschriebenen Wettbewerbs für innovative und nachhaltige Orgelkonzepte entwarf der Künstler und Orgelbauer Harald Schwarz ein außergewöhnliches Projekt für die Martinskirche in Kassel. Sein Ansatz zielte darauf ab, den anfallenden Bauschutt der Kirchenrenovierung in ein experimentelles Orgeldesign zu integrieren. Trotz des hohen Innovationsgrads und der kreativen Vision, die hinter diesem Vorschlag standen, wurde das Projekt letztlich nicht zur Umsetzung ausgewählt. Sein Entwurf nutzte Materialien wie Stein, Holz und Metall, die während der Umbaumaßnahmen der Martinskirche anfielen, und integrierte diese in die Konstruktion einer Orgel. Dieser Ansatz sollte einen bewussten Umgang mit Ressourcen und das kulturelle Erbe der Kirche thematisieren.“

Suspension of the Art Project „Experimental Stalin Organ“

Due to current political developments in Europe and the increasing focus of EU policies on escalating the war in Ukraine, I have decided to suspend the realization of my art project, the „Experimental Stalin Organ,“ for the time being.

This project was intended as a sonic transformation of a military symbol—turning war technology into a sound installation for peace. However, in a time when more money and effort are being poured into militarization rather than diplomatic solutions, I fear that the realization of this idea would be seen as a provocation rather than a call for peace.

Art should inspire reflection and open new perspectives. But when public discourse is increasingly dominated by war rhetoric, even a peace-driven art project risks being misinterpreted or instrumentalized.

For now, the „Experimental Stalin Organ“ remains a concept—a reminder that it is time to redirect not only weapons but also thoughts toward peace.

Приостановка художественного проекта «Экспериментальный орган Сталина»

В связи с текущими политическими событиями в Европе и возрастающей ориентацией политики ЕС на эскалацию войны в Украине, я принял решение временно приостановить реализацию моего художественного проекта «Экспериментальный орган Сталина».

Этот проект задумывался как звуковая трансформация военного символа — превращение технологии войны в звуковую инсталляцию во имя мира. Однако в то время, когда всё больше денег и усилий направляется на милитаризацию, а не на дипломатические решения, я опасаюсь, что реализация этой идеи будет воспринята скорее как провокация, чем как призыв к миру.

Искусство должно побуждать к размышлениям и открывать новые перспективы. Но когда общественное обсуждение всё больше пронизано военной риторикой, даже миротворческий художественный проект рискует быть неправильно истолкованным или использованным в иных целях.

На данный момент «Экспериментальный орган Сталина» остаётся концепцией — напоминанием о том, что настало время направить не только оружие, но и мысли в сторону мира.
