In 2003 Schwarz started with the cycle “68 Sketches — 1 Portrait”. A series of photorealistic portraits in the format 70 x 100 cm and entirely in black and white. In this series, the focus was not on the people depicted but on the expression of the individual work. The use of portraits of women as a template — but not as a strict truth. A portrait by nameless faces. Through the use of reflective glass, what is depicted eludes the viewer, creating places without predetermined pictorial information, making room for what remains hidden.
